CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (also known as CSI: Las Vegas) is a U.S. crime drama television series, which premiered on CBS on October 6, 2000. The show was made by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The show is filmed at Universal Studios .

The series follows Las Vegas forensics experts criminalists as they use physical evidence to solve gruesome murders in this highly graphic drama An immediate ratings smash for CBS, the series mixes deduction, gritty subject matter and popular characters . The network quickly capitalized on its hit with spin-offs CSI Miami and CSI:New York.

CSI: Miami (Crime Scene Investigation: Miami) is a U.S. police procedural TV series, which premiered on September 23, 2002 on the CBS television network. The show is a spin-off of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

CSI: Miami follows a Miami forensics team headed by Horatio Caine. Against a backdrop of simmering ethnic and cultural tensions, Caine’s team probes cases similar to those of their Las Vegas counterparts.

The pilot episode was first broadcast in the United States on May 9, 2002 as an episode of CSI and seven seasons have been aired in the United States. The seventh season is currently being broadcast in England and Ireland. The series is produced in partnership with the Canadian media company Alliance Atlantis and CBS.

On May 19, 2009, CBS renewed CSI Miami for an eighth season, which premiered in the United States on September 21, 2009 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
